About us

Our mission

Our mission is to drive transformational and sustainable improvements in the quality of life, well-being, empowerment, and social inclusion of care experienced young people and people affected by dementia.

By transformational, we mean a permanent change in attitudes and systems which result in a substantial change for the better in the lives of our beneficiaries.

By sustainable, we mean that the benefits which come from our funding can be continued in the long term, independently of the Trust.

Our vision

The Trust’s vision is for a Scotland where all care experienced young people and people affected by dementia are valued as full and equal citizens, able to live good quality lives and receive the right support when they need it.

Our values

Our core values define who we are and what we stand for. They provide the basis for our decision-making and also inform our expectations of those we work with. They are:

People-centred

The Trust is committed to:

  • promoting the rights, independence and choices of our beneficiaries
  • ensuring that our work is defined and developed with our beneficiaries
  • making a visible and measurable difference to our beneficiaries’ lives

Pioneering

We will:

  • drive positive, transformational change
  • stimulate innovation by acting in pioneering and creative ways
  • advocate for change that will provide the most benefit to our beneficiaries
  • learn from others and evaluate our own work to improve what we do

Open and Collaborative

The Trust will:

  • listen to and take account of different voices and views
  • actively encourage people and organisations to be part of our work
  • be honest, open and transparent about what we do and how we do it
  • be accessible and accountable

Honest and Responsible

We will:

  • act with integrity
  • embody and promote fairness, non-discrimination and equality in everything we do
  • act responsibly in accordance with the law

Independent

We will:

  • act as an advocate and as an agent of change on behalf of our beneficiaries
  • be informed and engaged in the way we work, but free from vested interests
  • be resolute in supporting the needs of our beneficiary groups, guided by their views and preferences
